What does the Bible say about make up?
The Bible does not explicitly mention make-up, but it does provide principles that can guide Christians in their use of cosmetics.
In 1 Timothy 2:9-10, Paul advises women to dress modestly and with decency, and to not focus on outward adornment such as braided hair, gold jewelry, or expensive clothing. Instead, he encourages women to focus on inner beauty, such as good deeds and a humble spirit.
This passage can be applied to make-up in the sense that it should not be used to attract attention or to enhance physical beauty in a way that is immodest or overly showy. Rather, it can be used as a tool to enhance natural beauty and to present oneself in a respectful and appropriate manner.
